The Florida Keys are such a special place to me. Being from Miami, I’m blessed to have this tropical paradise so close to home. It’s my favorite place to shoot and provides the most beautiful backdrop for all kinds of photography, including elopement photography, couples photography, family photography, and maternity photography.
I mainly stick to the Upper Florida Keys for shoots and wanted to share my favorite locations with you all! There are so many places to shoot between Key Largo and Islamorada, and I hope this gives you some ideas and inspiration for your session.
Baker’s Cay in Key Largo is possibly my favorite resort in all of the Florida Keys. It has a very relaxing, natural atmosphere with its mangrove-lined paths and secluded beaches. It has so many different areas to shoot, and because it’s very shaded, it provides good lighting for photography, no matter the weather.
The only downside is that you need a reservation to do photos here, so it’s ideal for anyone who wants to take a staycation or a vacation if you’re from out of town. It’s on the bay side which is ideal for sunset photos.

Playa Largo in Key Largo is another personal favorite for photography. It’s a beautiful place for a family vacation if that is what you are looking for, but you can also do photos here by booking a reservation at their restaurant, Sol by the Sea. It’s also on the bay side, which makes it a great spot for sunset photography.

If you’ve never heard of Robbie’s, it is an iconic Florida Keys attraction known for its world-famous tarpon feeding. But it has a lot more than just tarpon feeding; it has so many areas that are great for photography! This is an awesome spot if you want a shoot that feels very in-the-moment and a way you can make a cool memory out of your shoot.

John Pennekamp is mainly known for its boat tours, but it is also a quiet and secluded place for photography on land. This is a great option for anyone who doesn’t want to drive too far since it’s one of the closest locations from Miami. The entrance fee is $8/vehicle and they’re open until sunset.

I hope this blog was helpful for anyone looking to book a photoshoot in the Florida Keys! I can’t recommend the Keys enough for a tropical vacation and what better way to document the memory than with a photography session. If you’re ready to book your session or have more questions, you can book here.
Hey, I'm Donna Irene! I am a portrait photographer from Miami, FL. My speciality is beachy lifestyle sessions that capture the beauty of our sunshine state. After spending 10 years as a wedding photographer, I was diagnosed with a genetic disorder in 2022 and began shifting away from "big weddings" and focusing my energy on elopements and laid-back
portrait sessions. My favorite thing is capturing beauty through my lens and I would be honored to get you behind it and tell your story!
